Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Hartford County Residents Directory. Using the reference means you accept these conditions. If you do not accept them, do not use the pages or linked search tools.

1. What This Reference Is

Hartford County Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to Connecticut public rolls, record indexes, offices, and historical collections. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a municipality, state agency, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the pages only for lawful purposes. You may not use the reference or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm someone.
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit fraud, identity theft, or another unlawful act.
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
  • Scrape, republish, or copy the site at scale.
  • Interfere with the site, its security, or its linked services.

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

This reference is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. None of it may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Portals and Services

Government portals, libraries, archives, postal tools, and third-party services have their own terms, privacy rules, fees, and availability. The operator does not control their content, results, pricing, data practices, or uptime. Sponsored search tools are outside services as well.

5. No Promise of Accuracy

The pages are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a statement, link, fee, coverage date, office hour, or external result is complete, accurate, current, or available. Confirm important details with the office that keeps the record.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this reference or a linked source, including an action taken from a record found through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless the site operators from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that arises from your misuse of the pages, linked services, or information, or from your violation of these terms.

8. Copyright and Site Materials

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Ordinary linking and brief quotations with attribution are welcome. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not permitted.

9. Revisions

These terms may be changed by posting an updated version on this page. Continued use after a change means the revised terms apply.

10. Access Restrictions

The operator may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses the reference, or interferes with its operation. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. Connecticut Law

These terms are governed by Connecticut law, without applying conflict-of-law principles. Connecticut’s public-records framework is the Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§1-200 et seq.; that statute governs the public agencies and records it covers, not the private operation of this reference.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
